Malaysia

Selamat tengah hari... or "Good day" as you would say it in English. Since previous blog I have travelled from Borneo to Peninsular Malaysia, spent a few days in Kuala Lumpur and then by a long but mostly comfortable bus ride made my way to the Perhentians Islands - the smaller one, Kecil to be specific and am now spending some days in Cameron Highlands. But before I write about the end (for this blog, don’t worry - I have no plans to end it in a foreseeable future ;) let’s start from the beginning or at least where we left off last time...

Decided to go for some river rafting since it’s supposed to be really good in Borneo. Because it rained the whole day before it sort of changed from being a grade 2 to a 4 or 4+ (they say waterfall is 6) and it was though but really cool (!) knowing you’ve done it and survived! ;)

I sort of became friend with this "dood" how lived in Borneo and decided to go for a classic Sunday clubbing with him and his friend, who was a pilot for Air Asia (sorry no discount :) and sort of drives his car as an jet plane (same speed). After the third place and a lot of alcohol, I wandered of and got a cab back to the hostel; arrive in bed by 4 am.. *hehe* Hangover the next day for sure!

Somehow, and don’t ask me how ;) I managed to get my hands on the latest edition of Stig Larssons book "Luftslottet som sprängdes" and stayed in bed for 2½ days just listening (e-book) and had to explain to people and staff at the guesthouse that: No, I am not sick, I listening to this really good book and cant stop. TIPS: If you haven’t read his books - do it (just like Nike)

Arrived in Kuala Lumpur and hanged out with some American Chinese students who was travelling and one of them had a cousin (sort of) who lived in KL and we got some good stories and a personal guide for ½ a day. The next day I went for the sky bridge-tickets (41:th floor) at PETRONAS Towers and after queuing for almost two hours from 8 in the morning I got a ticket for 3 pm. But when I got up there and took some trembling steps (me and my vertigo) it rained as never before - wasted!

Took one of those Super Luxury buses (big recliner seats) from KL (7-8 hours) to the Perhentians for about 10 Usd and the next day with ½ hour speedboat arrived at the island Kecil. A beautiful but quite expensive little island with truly wonderful beach, fantastic waters (for snorkelling and diving) and cool beach partys and bonfires at night (stayed for almost 10 days). Only bad thing was that I booked a trip to Redang Island for diving (supposed to be world-class) but they cancelled it due to bad weather :(

Now I am sitting at Father’s Guest House in Cameron Highlands and have just spent a full day adventure in the mountain jungle and visited ancient tribes (well a bit touristy, but still ;) and in a few days I will transport myself back to KL to catch the flight to BALI, that’s right - surfs up, diving, komodo dragons, volcanoes and more... but you’ll just have to wait to hear about that now wont you ;)

To all "my people" in Sweden: GLAD MIDSOMMAR. I will miss the köttbullar, nypotatis, prinskorv and nubbe but fortunately they grow strawberries here in the highlands so I’ll just have to dig in to a bowl of those and honour the Swedish tradition...

Don’t spare me the gossip - let it flow.. :-) /Kristian
